An Owner's Focus

As a Registered Dietitian (Certified by The Commission on Dietetic Registration), I understand the close relationship between diet and overall health. Throughout most of my life I have been pursuing the perfect balance between the foods we consume, dietary supplements and exercise in order to achieve optimal health. Eating a well-balanced, healthy diet provides the foundation for each of us to function at the highest level. Can dietary supplements further enhance our intake to make us feel better, perform better and prevent or fight disease?

Our product line consists of nutritional products that are designed with this focus in mind. Enhanced Life Sciences MEGA CoQ10 capsules, for example, have shown great promise in the possible treatment of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Furthermore, CoQ10 is well known for its powerful antioxidant/anti-inflammatory properties with many benefits for possibly preventing and treating obesity, renal disease and heart disease. We know that tissue levels of CoQ10 decrease with age, so one could argue that this is a supplement that everyone should take.

One of our more popular products, alpha lipoic acid (ALA), has been touted as a powerful antioxidant with a broad spectrum of benefits. Unlike most other antioxidants such as vitamin C, which is water soluble, or vitamin E, which is strictly fat soluble, ALA is soluble in both water and fat. This allows it to enter all parts of the cell in order prevent the oxidative stress that causes cell death and, eventually, disease. ALA, along with CoQ10, helps protect and rejuvenate the mitochondria (powerhouse) of cells; and, probably most importantly, ALA is the only antioxidant that can increase cellular glutathione levels. Why is this important? Glutathione is the body’s most vital antioxidant to overall health and wellness.
